Abstract

The semi-miscible polymer blends of natural polymer guar gum and synthetic polymer poly(vinyl alcohol) have been studied for their compatibilization with biocompatible γFe2O3nanoparticles. Ultrasonic velocity, density, adiabatic compressibility, and dilute solutionviscometry studies at 30°C and 40°C has confirmed that γ-Fe2O3nanocomposites of GG/PVAblends are compatible. The presence of well-dispersed nanoparticles may have allowed theuncoiling of guar gum molecules to form intermolecular hydrogen bonding with PVA. TheGG/PVA blend – γ-Fe2O3composites are potential candidates for biomedical applications.
